St. Matthew’s – Hanover

For me, it is quite uncommon to see a life-size statue of Jesus instead of a cross in the altar area. I recently visited St. Matthew’s – Hanover. Click here to see photos.

This is quite a large church, but the nave, or altar area, was especially large with a vaulted ceiling that had to be 7-10 meters high. My flash was not working very well, so it doesn’t do justice to the beautiful, tiny aqua blue tiles that makes up the mosaic wall.

I believe that both St. Mark’s in Chesley and St. John’s Elmwood have statues of Jesus as well. St. Peter’s had a beautiful one until the fire (look in the church history book to see pictures).
