The Nativity Display

I thought it was strange that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) were holding their second annual nativity display over at Walkerton. Strange because I didn’t think they believed in the divinity of Jesus. I tried doing a bit of research on their core doctrines, but I can’t/won’t comment because I’m not informed enough.

Nonetheless, they set-up a display of 2,000 nativity sets. Yes folks, you heard it here. 2,000. It takes them ten days, working 14-16 hour days with twenty volunteers to put it together. Even people in the states and other provinces send them sets.

After the first 700 sets, it becomes a bit overwhelming, but the degree to which they did the background scenery/setting is amazing. They should be highly commended for this effort. Their decorating skills were phenomenal.

I took a number of photos, so please enjoy.

My differences in faith understandings is not enough to keep me away from a great display … and there was not one hint of Santa Claus!

I’d never heard of having hundreds/thousands of nativity set displays before, but there is a Prysbeterian Church in Owen Sound that is doing the same thing.

So Kristin … are we going together to Owen Sound to see the nativity display there?? Or can you be a good girl one more time??!

  2. I think the display was this past weekend … and I’ve got an endless potential for good … is there a sermon there?

How about we do the Festival of Northern Lights instead?
