A Good Day

With the weather being incredibly beautiful down here, and seeing all the tulips & daffodils coming up … I miss my backyard. I’m glad that Judy had a wonderful afternoon planned for me.

First, she arrives with a jug of ‘dark’ maple syrup. You might remember from my maple syrup posting that the dark syrup is produced at the end of the season. It has a fuller body/flavour. Can’t wait to try. Then she took me to the famed ‘Exchange Room.’ At the dump they brought in a portable classroom where you can bring your ‘useful’ items that are in good condition and folks can browse and pick up whatever you like for free. Reuse! I picked up a large cloth tote bag and a ‘Columbia’ brand sun hat. (Okay – I should be honest…Judy was dropping these two items off and I snapped them up right away!)

Next we were off to an art showing at Durham. Judy took me on the scenic route on back roads. I really enjoyed being able to ‘gawk’ instead of drive. Judy’s friend, who lives only miles from me, was having a showing of her work. This collection of art was based around twisting fine wire into garment shapes. Some where free standing, some where on a metal clothes rack (all minatures). She also did work with nest and bird motifs. The exhibit, although not my personal taste, evoked a lot of emotions from within me. I would call her work to be “dark”. Interesting!

We drove home on different back roads.

Every Saturday Judy picks up a loaf of freshly made brown bread from an Amish neighbour. I eagerly accepted Judy’s invite to go too, and I picked up a loaf as well. Esther welcomed us in for a visit.

I was going to go to Judy’s to see their newest filly – Blue Demon, but the afternoon was growing long. (Blue Flash was born last month, but my photos of her didn’t turn out. Now that the snow is gone I’ll get some good outside shots soon.)

When I got home, I wasn’t really relishing the idea of being ‘home alone.’ I checked my voice mail and there was a message from Ken & Mary, my new neighbours/friends, inviting me over for supper. How wonderful!

God is surely taking good care of me. A day doesn’t get much better than being able to enjoy the hospitality of so many folks! I am blessed.

I guess we’ll have to add “spoiled” Kristin to the list ….

  2. As it should be! You see, I’m perfectly content with these adjectives! I only need to remember to spoil others as much as I am spoiled.

Mary – this means that I’ll drive you to the workshop next Saturday. Sharing my time with you is my way of spoiling you. Don’t you feel special already?

    Special isn’t the word, Kristin…. ;)

  4. Mary Golem says:

    great minds think alike, Jennifer!

  5. Okay, I’ll try another adjective. Does ‘precious’ have a deeper, more profound meaning?

Mary – You should be happy I didn’t call it a ‘date.’

  6. Mary Golem says:

indeed I am grateful no “date” was mentioned, “precious” one!!
