Mary stopped by yesterday and while we were chatting, PJ – my kitty got underfoot and Mary stomped on her. PJ let out a howl! Mary asked, “Is PJ okay?” I said, “Yes, she’s fine.” It was a beautiful day and we moved outside and chatted on the deck. PJ came to the inside of the storm door and looked at us outside. Then she held up her paw, favouring it. Mary had a worried look, and I ignored it.
In deep concern Mary sent an email this morning asking if PJ was okay. I replied, “She’s a big faker! I don’t know where she learned that from. Seems like she’s always doing something…looking for sympathy. I just can’t identify with that type of behaviour!”
Is it possible that our pets pick up human qualities? At home in Regina, Rhett, Emily & I all say that are pets are big sucks and its Doug who turned them into ‘big sucks.’ I don’t think anyone would suggest that Rhett, Emily or I are ‘big sucks’ so why would our pets turn out that way?
In like manner, why has PJ turned out as she has? I wonder what type of qualities PJ will assume once she’s lived with John and Liz for a little while?
It’s no wonder our dogs turned into huge sucks, they had 3 people in our household reaching for the summit of sucks. The only sad thing about it is that I let it happen. I should have nipped in the bud long ago!!
I will accept no blame for any such nonsense. My pets are normal (except JD, but he was screwed up long before me).
There is only one response and we all know what it is ……….. POOR DOUG!!!
By the way, Kristin, PJ will be fine at the Pulley’s house – as long as she picks up all of Liz’s good qualities!!
After hearing Vicar Kristin tell the children during her children’s message this morning that she once did not know her son, Rhett (dressed in a suit and with a new haircut for a family funeral) I think it’s only right that we add “Poor Rhett” to the numerous “Poor Doug” comments we’ve made!
Mary – Thanks for your contribution to sustaining my family’s sense of harmony!! I was sort of hoping Rhett had forgotten this incidence … but you have to admit, it really fit the Gospel lesson for today. I really thought it was great when the kids agreed that they thought it was possible their parents might not recognize them at some point of time! I doubt many parents would agree!!
Having been away from the parish since last Thursday, we have missed all the “happenings.” I think all of you who have responded to this particular topic are “Softies.” You have big hearts that show concerns for others, whether it be for humans or animals. Therefore, the catagory “sucks” does not apply, in my estimation, to any of you.
Well, John – you are being ever-so the gentleman. I thought I was opening up a pretty wide door for you (& others) to respond to the “what happens to PJ” at the Pulley’s remark … but at least I can always count on Mary to be willing to walk through the door! And I do appreciate her wit!
