Signs of Spring

I’m sure Ontario is just as bizarre, but Saskatchewan has been having these high temperatures, into the 20′s and I believe it’s supposed to be 18 today. However, they are forecasting blowing snow and rain for the weekend!

But for me, spring is here. On Monday I packed away my turtleneck sweaters and my wool pants. On Tuesday I didn’t wear socks. Today I put toe polish on.

What have you done that signifies that spring is really here?

  1. I’m heading off to Paisley this morning. It is a beautiful town about 45 minutes away. I’m going shopping for skirts. All I want are plain khaki skirts to wear instead of shorts. Mark’s Work Wearhouse has some (which is where I’ve purchased much of my wardrobe) but I think they are a bit too short for what I want. Otherwise there is none to be found in Owen Sound. I shopped Zellers, Sears, the mall stores and even the expensive stores. I’ve found it amazing the number of small towns that have great women’s wear stores.

And they all accept Visa or Mastercard too!

  3. John Pulley says:

Your my type of husband, Doug!!

  4. Yes, my type of husband, too! It was a successful shopping day: 2 skirts, 2 jackets, 1 T-shirt, 1 pant, 1 earring. I also ordered a couple of clergy blouses to complement my purchases!

I just talked to Mary and reported that I was now, “Pretty Kristin”. She thought there was a movie by that name … but actually … coming soon there will be a DVD release party!

Poor Doug! Poor us! But … Pretty Kristin!!

  6. Mary Golem says:

Doug, Kristin may not have told you this yet but Kristin asked for an extra line of credit on her cards for her stay in Ontario. She thought the extra they gave her would be enough … it’s not!

  7. But I’m still wondering … what do you do that demonstrates spring has arrived for you? I know Doug has got the motorcycle running, but sometimes he rushes the season on that score.

At home it usually means we take the plastic off the windows.

  8. Mary Golem says:

get out the sandals, paint my toenails!, make a trip to the dump with all the junk accumlulated over the winter, rake the stones off the lawn, hang clothes on the line (usually March) … and then go through the house looking for stuff to wash just so I can hang it on the line, soon the cattle will go out of the barn and Gerald will be off for his annual fishing trip with his buddies and …. open wind the windows! I love spring!!
