While I was off-line …

I want to share some of my highlights from the month of March when I wasn’t posting. On March 7th I was the guest speaker at the World Day of Prayer hosted by St. Peter’s ELW. I had the very good fortune of being connected to a young woman who had spent six months living & working in Guyana (the feature country). She wrote and excellent reflection on her experience which I read, and then I preached on the assigned text. The whole day was wonderful from the lunch, to the video, and the worship service which included a skit and a choir.

Pastor Katharine from the LTS seminary in Saskatoon made a site visit. She was a missionary to Peru and she still sells items made by Peruvians. I was able to purchase from her a beautiful baby alpaca vest and two pairs of earrings.

I spent Mon-Thurs of Holy Week attending the noon services. The preaching was inspiring and I felt a ‘recharging’ of my spiritual energies during a very demanding ministry schedule.

On the evening of Good Friday, Mary & Gerald and I drove over to Walters’ Falls for the “Journey through Jerusalem”. It was a live (& mostly outdoor in the driving shed) production of the Passion Play. It was quite cold which added to the intensity of the experience. Michael, a member of St. James, is an actor and he played the role of Jesus. We were pleased when we saw Michael on Easter Sunday morning that he too, had risen!

At the end of the month I drove over to Walkerton (1/2 hour drive) to enjoy an evening of karoke at a tavern. Pastor Chad, who is newly ordained ten months ago, is a tremendously good singer and I was amazed by the talent of the other singers. I was the only person who couldn’t sing. As you can imagine, that didn’t stop me from taking my turn with the microphone. It was a late night, but well worth the experience. Plus it was fun!

Ahhhh…the life of an intern! I notice there was no mention made of said intern trying to give the chair of her internship committee directions on where he should be driving! You know, the gal from out of province telling the guy who for the past 30 years has driven the back roads of Grey-Bruce where he should be going….. hmmmm………
And, if need be, I can fill your readers in on the “modelling” of the Peruvian purchases!

Mary, what are you waiting for already?
