A few weeks ago we travelled to Calgary to see Rhett & Leah’s new house. I was really impressed by Doug’s and my ability to ‘throw our stuff’ together and get ready. I preached on the Sunday morning, got home at 11:30 and by 2:30 we had the car packed with all our camping gear and clothes … a new personal time record!
Rhett & Leah we still in their apartment and we stayed at their new house so we could let the floor refinisher into the house (while they were at work.) We picked up our groceries and were heading out to Kannanaskis Country by 11:00 a.m.
Our favourite campground in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park is called ‘Inter-Lakes Campground.” We were lucky enough to get the best site in the campground. (As you can see by the photo – I’m not exaggerating!)
We had beautiful weather except for one night when the winds blew up and we headed to the tent early. Then it hailed! It is the first time we’ve experienced hail – plus ferocious winds. The deafening sound was amazing. Doug was worried the tent might come down, but he had purchased extra long tent pegs and was very glad he had!
Our campsite was on the water’s edge and about 6-8 feet above the lake. There was a stoney beach about 15 feet wide separating the drop-off from the lake. After the hail storm night these mountains were covered in powdery snow.
Every morning was a breath-taking experience to see such beauty.
Next time take me/us with you …. beautiful spot!!!
I agree, Mom – what could be more fun then camping with us (besides shopping, of course!)?
We love this campground, but it isn’t our ultimate favourite. The very best is Waterfowl Lakes campground which is at the north end of Banff National Park – about 1 hour north of Lake Louise.
Jennifer – I’m not that big on shopping. Your mother (& others including Doug) would disagree. When I shop, which is infrequent, I buy. I’ve learned not to shop unless I’ve got the money to spend….and then I spend it. I quite like clothes!
So I would have the very best time just sitting around with you. Remember – your parents know this – remember the time I arrived for lunch when you guys were there, and then I stayed for supper, too ……then when your Dad started yawning a lot I thought maybe I should go home!!
Kristin … you failed to mention the complete length of your lunch-into-supper-into-evening-into-middle-of-the-night stay at our house!!!!!!!!
Awwwww…to have those good old times back again! Forget school in September … come back to Ontario!!!!
For as much as I’m getting excited to see old friends back at LTS, it would have been an interesting life experience to have had Doug move to Ontario & for me to have done my last year of seminary at Waterloo.
I guess we’ll have to see where God sends us next year!
Mom, we need to start praying for Kristin and Doug to head to Ontario… just imagine the stories that we could bribe Doug to tell us!
Stories!!! What do you mean – stories? Everything I say is the “gospel truth”.
Yea, MAYBE yours are gospel truth, Kristin! BUT Doug has known you for a very long time, and well, I’m sure there are stories about you/your life that we need to hear before you experienced the Light …..
