I presided over my second wedding service a few weeks ago. It was very interesting to conduct the marriage prep class and get to know the young couple a little bit. I also had the opportunity to observe a wedding which used the marriage service from the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship Book. When I have read through that service I thought it was somewhat “sterile” but I was quite impressed by the service when I heard it lived out – plus the ad-lib’s of the pastor were very insightful and appropriate. I’ve learned so much!

Kristin: You sure are getting a well rounded education in your parish. It will be excellent experience for you when you are ordained. Keep up the good work.
This will be my last contribution to your website until September 1st or 2nd. Liz and I are headed for Kitchener tomorrow, Aug 28 to help in the preparation of son Michael and daughter-in-law Daria’s marriage on Saturday Aug 30th. Everyone is getting excited as this ceremony is finally going to take place. The wedding is taking place at St. Luke’s Lutheran, our home church. We were concerned that they would fly off to some exotic place to be married, which would have meant that Liz and I would not have been there as Liz will not fly. However, God has answered our prayers and our whole family will be able to be present. Daria has family coming from Poland and she is so happy they can come.
God bless you Kristin as you return to seminary.
Thanks, John. I’ve had you & Liz and Michael & Daria’s wedding in my prayers this week as I remembered it would be this long weekend. I know you & Liz will look dazling! I thank God, right along with both of you, for answering this prayer of love. Blessings for your whole family!
Thank you for the prayers and blessing. Talk to you soon.
Love to you and family
John & Liz
What a wonderful wedding. The day was beautiful. The girls who stood with Daria were lovely. Even Kyla as flower girl was lovely. She really drew some comments from family who had never seen her in this type of setting before. She even surprised Liz and I. What pleased us most was the fact that Michael and Daria chose to marry in the church rather than to go to some far off place. Both of them have great respect for Pastor Jim Kellner. He and his wife were seated at our table and we enjoyed their company and so I could see how he would be respected. A number of Daria’s family and friends spoke very little English, so Daria had to do some interpretation in Polish, but we all got along tremendously. We had met Daria’s mother a number of times prior to the wedding, but only met her father at the rehearsal Friday evening. It was a joy for us to meet him for the first time as he was so happy to finally meet us. To top the day off, all my brothers and sisters were able to come and before they all headed for home, we had breakfast together at a restaurant. They even had the patience to allow Liz and I to attend church before we gathered for breakfast. What a wonderful weekend.
YEAH!!! Glad to hear it was a great day! Can’t wait to see photos ….
John – God’s richest blessings were upon this day … and everyday. The prayers of many were answered & God blessed all of you with more than you even asked for. Thanks be to God!
