Lighting Candles Nightmare

You see … I’ve never had to light candles at church. At CLC-Regina it was the usher’s responsibility. I can’t remember ever lighting the candles at chapel at seminary (remember it’s not my job).

In Sullivan-Williamsford it was the assisting minister’s responsibility to light the candles. I would never remember and John would always save the day or Pastor Sheilah would say “Aren’t you going to light the candles.”

Remember – I’ve been back at CLC for three months as a worship leader and never had to light the candles.

The chapel team I’m on has this – the first week – as our turn. Guess who forgot to light the candles yesterday. I felt rather foolish when I say the President lighting them before the service. Or should I say I felt good that I provided the opportunity to empower him with that responsibility!

Kristin: I thought I taught you how to light the candles. Even I would not have lit the candles if we had had regular acolytes in place. Oh well, when you get to be a pastor you will know where everything is situated, which will make it easier for you to light those candles in your church.
