Happy 51st Birthday, Kristin!

Today is my birthday and Doug surprised me with flowers. I really like flowers. Doug bought all my favourites … gladiolas, snap dragons, baby’s breath, roses and then a bunch more!

I got my long-awaited paper shredder. An extra surpise was a waffle iron. I don’t know how many years we’ve been without a waffle iron. Doug makes the best waffles – he folds beaten egg whites into the batter – and they are so fluffy. Last week I asked him why he didn’t make waffles any more. I thought he was tired of them because we almost always had them on Sunday after church. I can’t wait for lunch tomorrow.

My treat lunch for today is bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. I’ve put my request in for scalloped potatoes and ham for supper. And my angel food cake is already made. (Angel food for the angel!) A day doesn’t get much better than this!

Doug asked me if I felt a year older. I said “No. … I still feel fifty.”

Happy Birthday, Kristin! Soooo glad you still feel 50, ‘cuz you look 51!!! ouch, bet that hurt … and I just know that remark will spark a fiesty response…if, in fact, you’ll still write/talk to me! I know what you others will say knowing I’m about to receive Kristin’s wrath …. Poor Mary .. right??!?!?!
Seriously, Blessings in Abundance, Kristin! Have a good day! And Doug, you should give Gerald lessons on how to spoil someone on their birthday!!

  2. Mary – As a wise and mature woman, I can offer you some wisdom … Mary Kay Magic … it’s never too late.

Happy birthday, Kristin. I hope you enjoy being 29 50 again. :)

  4. Jen – I didn’t handle 29 very well. I woke up on Jan 1, 1987 and said outloud, “UGH this is the year I turn 30.” My 29th year was depressing. Being 30 wasn’t nearly as bad.

Fortunately I met all these amazing 55+ women when I was 45 and I realized I could wait to grow in wisdom.

I’m trying to be that role model for your mother. How’s it working so far???

I’m not going to touch the you being a role model for my mother comment with a mile long pole…. :)

I hope you had a great birthday, and enjoy your waffles tomorrow.

Wise, wise daughter I have, don’t you think, Kristin! YOU could learn sooooo much from me ……….

  7. I could learn from Jennifer … but that’s only because she’s learning so much from her co-workers!

  8. Jen Chase says:

Um… how to approach this one on a public forum… Let’s just say that (thankfully!) I have learned significantly more from my parents than from my coworkers, particularly as it comes to being wise.

  9. You are a great daughter. And an honest one too! How lucky I am to have such good friends!!

And a happy birthday to Kristin from Holland Centre. You look as good at 51 as you did at 50. You age well!!
