The weather forecasters were certainly correct in the days leading up to the weekend. We could expect a significant snowfall and Regina was on the edge of the system. The question is always “would we” or “won’t we” get the snow.
My two winter coats (which are both dress coats) had served me well for 14 and 8 years respectively. For the sake of space in my car and realizing it was probably time to purchase a new coat, I donated both of them before I left Ontario. Doug and I went out shopping on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and there was only a few flakes in the air. This first photo was taken at 3:00 p.m. when I realized we were likely to get a blanket of snow.
This photo was taken at 5:00 p.m. I selected our pond as the reference point because I thought, “Wouldn’t it be cute to see flowing water with fluffy snow all around?” Actually, this scene is reminiscent of Sullivan Township and all the flowing rivers/creeks. Judy and I walked many times down to Mooresburg and the picturesque scenery of the river still fills my memory.
This photo is from this morning. The snow has ended. It probably never got colder than -1, but that’s a far cry from Ontario where Jen reports she was walking yesterday in 20C weather! I’ll head back to Saskatoon after lunch. Likely much of the snow will have melted by then.
For those of you who are curious … I did buy two new winter coats. On Saturday, I bought a knee length black dress coat and on Sunday a white and black ski jacket. I’ve never owned a ski jacket before, but I doubt that I’ll start skiing.
We hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Like Jen said, it has been warm, short sleeve shirt type of weather. We were left without any family due to our daughter’s kids hockey games on the weekend and our son being called in to work at 1 am Sunday morning beause of three homicides in Mississauga. We are now trying to rake up leaves and we no sooner get a clear space on the grass when the wind picks up and deposits more.
Um… Kristin… you live on the prairies? Where are you going to ski??
I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend!
She’ll have to return to Ontario, I guess Jen … not only to ski, but to model those TWO new coats … to see if we approve of them, of course. I wonder …. will she be wearing her “questionable” ear-rings with the ski jacket??
I’d pick a snowball fight with you Kristin, and/or make snow angels … but I can’t …. I’m wearing shorts and t-shirts, watching an awesome autumn sunset and walking through rustling leaves. Ahhh….life in Ontario!
Poor Doug, poor Kristin …. yeah us!!!!!
The backyard setting is quite beautiful. I only had to drive 15 minutes north from Regina and there was no more snow. In Saskatoon it is +13 and sunshine. I certainly didn’t have to worry about the driving conditions!
I still struggle with my earring purchases … for those same reasons!
Kristin failed to mention that her ski jacket is predominantly white with black trim that almost screams “look at me, look at me.” The only thing she doesn’t have is the blonde hair to go with the coat – wait a minute she does have that “Arctic Blonde” look so that when she is wearing the coat it does say “look at me.” Now is this appropriate for a soon to be Pastor?
Douglas – remember – in this one domain I have the power to edit or delete your comments! It’s rather like being god in the blogging world – and as a soon to be pastor – ……
