Two weeks ago the Western Bishops were in Saskatoon for a LTS Board of Governors meeting. They invited us (the seniors) for a dessert meeting where we could ask questions about the call process and colloquy (church examination for ordination). It was a very pleasant evening. Although I technically didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know (which I think speaks highly in regard to how we’ve been prepared for first call through course work and the CTEL process) it was great to hear directly from the Bishops. As well, several spouses were in attendance, including Doug and they got to hear all these questions and answers for the first time … plus ask their own questions.
We found out we will be the first group of senior students to go through an “all western” colloquy process. This means there will only be one colloquy sitting for the oral examination and it will take place in Saskatoon (February 26-28, 2009). All the examiners will come into Saskatoon. Previously each Synod set up their own examination board and the students had to fly back to their home Synod. They’re hoping this will standardize and streamline the process.
They indicated that there will be calls for us in due time, but we don’t need to be thinking about the process until we finish colloquy.
And the National Bishop was in for the LTS meeting as well, and she and the other Bishops joined us for breakfast on Thursday morning. Fortunately no one ordered pancakes (remember that photo??)!
Just so you know…our prayers for the right calling for you continue. Blessings and peace, and lotsa cyber hugs too!
I know of a parish that is looking for a pastor
John – You are too cute for your own good!
My comment was only made for information purposes. Besides, I know God will have a big part in where he wants you to serve. And we all know that where ever you go, some congregation is going to be the recipient of a well trained pastor.
God bless you as you await direction from HIM!!
You are full of blessings! Thank you … you started my morning off so well … now I have to write a sermon for tomorrow. I’m awaiting that direction as well!
