I have completed all the requirements for a Masters of Divinity! This past week I have been struggling to complete my last essay. It was only ten pages, but it was a difficult assignment to synthesize and integrate a very narrow topic. I was having trouble finding large enough blocks of time to think through the material. Even though I had until 4:30 today to hand in my course work, I was coming home yesterday. I didn’t want to bring any school work home with me … I wanted to be done.
As Doug drove, I worked on my laptop. It literally took the entire trip (2.5 hours) to finish and proofread my essay. As we approached Dewdney Avenue I was attaching my essay to an email. Four blocks from home I got the warning that my battery power was done. As we drove in the drive way I was able to log-on to our wireless internet. I pressed “Send.” I was done. I got out of the car with a grateful heart … I was home.
Congratulations!
Way to girl! We’re proud of you … and share your relief that you are DONE!
Congratulations!
(I guess it really would not be proper for me to say “poor Doug” at this point, would it?)
We also send our best for a journey well travelled. We always knew (once we got to know you) that you would finally reach home with no further committment to schooling. We commend you and pray that your parish would soon be shown to you by HIM!!
Blessings and peace

Nice work mom.
In an earlier post, you mentioned how you wanted “our” stories. As I re-read this post, I was thinking about what a different ending and what different comments there would have been had you said “four blocks from home the battery went dead …. and I lost everything I had done.”
I had that happen during my newspaper pagination days … a truly sickening feeling.
Thanks for all your kind words and encouragment. It has been a great feeling to have the academic work behind me.
One student’s laptop crashed this semester losing some critical work … it is a sickening feeling. The worst that has happened to me is the computer crashing and losing email addresses.
