LTS Chapel at Easter

LTS Chapel at Easter The LTS Chapel was beautifully decorated for Easter. The Dean of Chapel grows orchids and she supplied her orchids. They were amazing. I have never seen so many orchids in full bloom before.

I am having a bit of a problem with figuring out the croping technique with a new photo-editing program, so bear with the black sections. I’ve cut out photos of people who weren’t aware of their photo being taken. Special thanks to Louise for sharing her photos with me.

LTS chapel at Easter This photo highlights the orchids. You can also see the blue pottery baptismal font on top of a wooden stand.

A variety of palm-type fronds were tucked into the base of the font to give additional ‘greens’ of spring and new life.

This year two babies were baptized. There are three more seminary students (husbands are students) who are expecting babies by the fall!

LTS Chapel at Easter In this shot you can see how the Christ candle has been draped with ‘shroud-like’ fabric. The fabric is quite long and it ‘puddles’ on the floor in various spots. The design was quite beautiful but the arrangment of the free-standing pews made it difficult to enter and exit the sanctuary area. As the pew arrangement is for a limited time, it is manageable. Plus it is very interesting seeing how the sanctuary has been rearranged for Lent and then configured differently again for Easter.

Butterflies at the LTS Chapel The butterflies were an unexpected surprise. I am sure that in the 70′s the design of this chapel was very avante guarde. It is a ‘minimalistic’ design of poured concrete. A few accent walls have pebbled stone in the concrete. It is not very condusive for nailing anything up! But some students went to the effort to put some anchors in so that fish line could be strung back & forth across the width of the sanctuary. (Reminds me of putting up snowflakes at St. Peter’s – another high wire act!) This photo doesn’t do the butterflies justice. It is quite effective.

Looks nice … I just hope they remembered to remove the lilies’ yellow stems so their “perfume” wasn’t strong!

  2. Kristin says:

They weren’t lilies, they were orchids. Amazing stem upon stem of orchids.

  3. Mary Golem says:

Sorry….the one photo looked really like lilies! I did read what you wrote about the orchids – just in case you are wondering – but got totally sidetracked when I read about the SP high wire act!

    Beautiful!

Hey Mary! I’m glad you caught that remark … I’m still grieved that you didn’t go nuts over my “Mary’s Corner” Christmas decoration remark. I thought I had been “soooo” smart!!

  6. Mary Golem says:

ME? … go nuts over a comment?? … not possible, my dear!
However, I just know that you and all of your other loyal fans will NEVER look at another “Mary’s Corner” at Christmastime in the same way again. Mission accomplished! Thanks, Kristin!
