I had to wake up early this morning so that I could take Doug to the airport (I am a nice wife.) This is what I saw when I looked out my window! I let out a scream. Nobody told me this was ‘in the air.’ UGH! The snow is mainly in the southern part of the province. I realize the lawn will appreciate the moisture, but I was hoping to plant some carrots in the garden. It will be a while before a roto-tiller can be used.
From this photo you can see how Doug emptied out the pond on Sunday. He is in the process of getting things ready for the summer.
Click here to read my Thanksgiving Day 2008 story of the freak snowstorm. Although today doesn’t really have a ‘storm’ quality about it.
Spoiler Alert The following is a “Poor Kristin” story … So Doug is off to Saskatoon and then he will fly to Calgary tonight. Emily drives to Calgary tomorrow. They are staying with Rhett & Leah.
Who is staying at home to walk the dogs? Yes, that’s right … ‘poor Kristin.’ Everyone else gets to party and have fun … but not me. And as Emily could also testify, it only rains, snows and blows when Doug goes out of town. … It is only sunshine and bliss when Doug has to walk the dogs.
Suzanne likes walking her dog, so she takes pity on me and is always willing to walk – even in crappy weather. She is a good friend. Suzanne never says, “Poor Suzanne” … on occasion she says “Poor Kristin” but usually she uses that same mocking voice as the rest of you!
POOR KRISTIN: The horrors of a candidate for ministry being left at home all by herself to look after the dog. Don’t we all feel sorry for her???
We would drop around to keep her from getting too lonely, but the distance seems to be a problem. Oh well, I guess she will have to put on her happy face and sweat it out until “POOR DOUG” gets back home.
John – lets get the story straight … there are two dogs. And I am rather lonely! I think you and Liz should plan a trip real soon … but after it finishes snowing.
And enough of the sympathy for Doug … I don’t think it required ‘all caps.’ But I do appreciate the vote of sympathy for me (I ignored your question marks and saw one exclamation point of support … just in case you might think I’ve had a personality change…)
I think it’s time for choir practice. Kristin knows the tune well, whenever she get’s more than a little whiney I start up with “Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen, nobody but Jesus…”
It doesn’t stop the whining but it is good for a laugh!
Doug: We loved your response!! As to coming to Saskatchewan, we are not sure if we can make the trip this year. With a new pastor coming in the early part of July, we don’t think we should leave him high and dry to fend for himself.
Nice ground covering … but you can keep it!
I LOVED your response, Doug! We’re going to have to remember that tune!
And Kristin …. Gerald and I are hoping to celebrate your ordination with you. Just make sure you have some wine ready upon our arrival!
John…what are you going to teach our future Pastor David? Other than reminding him about quiet, shy Mary … he should know everything else as a Seminary grad, right Kristin?
Ordinand David and Pastor John still had trouble believing that the night we were all together here. Don’t know what’s the matter with these men, Kristin … they just don’t get it most of the time!
I know, I know … if Doug were available he’d be sure to comment POOR MARY!
Mary – The world is such an amazing place when seen through our eyes!
I head to Edmonton for three weeks on Sunday. It has snowed either 2 or 3 out of the last 4 days.
Meanwhile, here, it has been 20+ degrees and beautiful. My tulips have even come out!
What’s wrong with this picture???

On another note, Doug, I’m so glad you comment here. You bring a much needed dose of reality….
Jen – This is what I have to say in response to your smiley face –
I’m back from walking the dogs for the third time today …
Everyone … stop encouraging Doug! I have no agreement with his version of reality!
Just because it’s your blog doesn’t mean you control the conversation, Kristin!
Jen – As hard as I try (& you know I’ve tried) … it has been a humbling experience to know you are telling it the way it is!
