I’m truly basking in the privilege of having days of leisure. I have been working very hard at different tasks but I can do everything on my own schedule. It’s entirely bizarre and I’m not used to it … and possibly just as well that I don’t get used to it.
Today, I attended my regular Mon-Wed-Fri fitness class down at the Field House. The best thing about this class is that many of the women – usually at least 8 – stay for coffee. It’s rarely the same eight. I’m really enjoying adding to my fold of girlfriends. In the afternoon I got my hair cut. Then I bought some pretty new bras (which I did model for Doug). [I just add this stuff to see if anybody really does read this blog.]
On my way home I stopped at the hospital to visit a dear, elderly friend. She’s anxious to get strong enough to return to her care home. Not only that but she wants to attend a very special niece’s wedding in two weeks and my ordination in three weeks. I love this woman. She is one of two women who I know pray for me every day … and they’ve done this both for years, not just the seminary years.
Doug made a wonderful spaghetti supper while I picked weeds. After supper we were both back at the weeds and the yard is looking fantastic. Mary – I’m sure there will be another generation of weeds by ordination time. Merv also has most all of the shrubs/trees/hedge trimmed now.
Doug learned today that there are problems with the pilot project in Raleigh, North Carolina so his trip at the beginning of July is cancelled. This means we’ll be travelling to Edmonton to attend Erik’s ordination as well as visiting Doug’s brother. It’s one of those bad news/good news situations. I’m so excited to be going as I’ve not been able to attend any of my classmates’ ordinations – not even those in Saskatoon as the timing was always wrong. So this will be very special.
Last but certainly not least … Doug is now making me muffins. I ran out of his raisin bran muffins two days ago and breakfast has not been the same! Mary … they really are that good! Another reason to visit!!
I just threw up a little.
Well! That’s exactly the response I was hoping for!!
This post, Kristin, really was tooooooo much!! Poor Rhett!
I’m just grateful you didn’t post any photos of your “pretty new bras!” Ha!
Mary – What are you talking about? Rhett was reacting to his father’s cooking. Didn’t you consider that possibly Doug’s homemade spaghetti sauce isn’t the best? (Actually it is!)
But talking about lines … I thought about it … but I realized there is a line … but I do take pictures of my purchases … but maybe, just maybe … there is a line. I hate to take hard and fast positions on lines.
I’m not even sure what to say…
Good morning evertone. It is 8.31 am and I have not had my breakfast yet. However, I have had my morning smile and laugh after reading this last post. Yes Kristin, we do read your posts. I don’t understand Rhett’s position. Does he not have a sense of humour. If he is anything like his mom, he has to have that characterist.
p.s. I’ll bet the bras were cute.
You will notice that on my last response, I can’t spell very well this morning. Hope that has nothing to do with the bras.
John – “evertone” … it’s that musical side of your personality! Thank you for your “supportive” and “uplifting” comments!
So Jennifer … do you know what to say now? Are you filled with “Wonder” (not my personal brand!)
Yes, I’m feeling pretty giddy this morning … we haven’t had one of these psychotic exchanges for a while! Glad I could create a chuckle!
John – Rhett is so much like his Dad! The ‘wry’ commentary
I don’t think “wonder” is the word I’d use….
But yes, thanks for the laugh. It’s good that your blog is back (and that the peanut gallery is too!).
So there is one bright side to this entry…. there’s no reason to say Poor Doug!
Thank you Jen! You are astute!! You deserve an emoticon …
Thanks? :S
