Everyone seems to be taking the frost warning seriously. I just got back from a dog-walk with Suzanne & we saw towels on planters. I held off from planting my tomatoes today and so they are back in the garage. The begonia and two other small pots are in the house and old towels are on my big pots.
Doug is off in Vancouver and then Calgary and he reports lovely weather in Vancouver. Since I doubt that Doug is reading my blog I’ll share with you that I actually turned the furnace back on for a few hours. It was so cold in the house. Doug wouldn’t “allow” such a thing on June 1st if he was home!! The howling winds and overcast skies kept it feeling much cooler than the thermometer said. Right now it is 13 and no wind and it was a perfect evening for a walk.
For a few weeks now I’ve been going to fitness class on Mon-Wed-Fri, so I’m feeling tuckered out tonight after washing floors & dusting this afternoon. I gave Phoenix a thorough brushing tonight. Flame only needed a bit of grooming. They were looking pretty sharp for Suzanne!
I always read your blog but I rarely feel sorry as you are often looking for sympathy when I am not home. Enjoy the cold weather – it will make you a better person!!
POOR KRISTIN!!!
Really…what other response is there?!?!
I turned on the heat last night too – the house was 60 when we got home from work, and that temperature is not conducive to paper writing!
(We normally keep it at 65, so it’s not like the house has to be balmy all the time. But I refuse to shiver in my own house for no good reason).
Vancouver is the place to be, 30 degrees today! Doug is smart.
Douglas! I’m not looking for sympathy, I only relate the reality of my life on this blog!
Thank you Mary … I don’t get enough “poor Kristin” remarks! And Jen … I knew we are a lot alike.
Kristen you have the distinct advantage of living in Vancouver … but I couldn’t take the rain … Or the crazy snow storms Vancouver had last year.
Is that supposed to be a compliment?
New fitness class idea, Kristin … that I’m sure Doug will even like! Try mowing your lawn with a push lawn mower. Our riding mower ran into problems mid-way through our big lawn yesterday … I’ve just finished mowing the back lawn and side lawn and grass at the road ALL with the push lawn mower. But I just know I burned away a few calories doing so!
GREAT weather here….21, sunny, beautiful! Hope it stays that way – I’m trying to organize a birthday/anniversary (61 years) family gathering for Russell and Margaret on Sunday. Yikes….
Good for you Mary! Send some of that sunny warm weather this way…I actually came home from work and turned my furnace back on tonight. Never mind Poor Fran! What happened to summer? Curling up on the couch with a blankie is not conducive to burning calories!
I’ve been snoozing and missing all the action here! I actually mowed the lawn while Doug was away … I did have to pull that “thingie” to make it start.
I got my tomatooes planted out yesterday and we bought two replacement shrubs and four replacement perennial grasses today. We have had quite a rain shower all day, so perfect for my flourishing garden. But it is cold … 6 degrees right now.
It sounds like Mary cuts the lawn frequently – maybe I should ask Gerald how that happens.
Kristin is only telling half the story again – so no POOR KRISTIN’S are allowed for at least a week. Besides the plants that Kristin mentioned we also bought some more plants for the pond. I spent most of Sunday afternoon in the rain and sleet planting the new shrubs (and relocating two others that seem to be on their death bed) and the new grasses. To top it off I had to do some pond maintenance which meant wading in the pond (~10C water) to rearrange some pond plants and clean a filter. I was pretty chilled by the end of the day.
Some annuals remain to be planted in some decorative pots but I am sure Kristin will wait for warmer weather or do it in the garage.
Hey, We can honestly say, “POOR DOUG” having to work on a Sunday yet, in poor weather to keep the pond in good health.
Okay, Doug … this post truly warrants a POOR DOUG!! And yes, I do mow our lawn and my in-law’s lawn every week . … they would never get done otherwise!! Hmm….does SAINT MARY apply here??!?!
Okay, Doug … this post really does warrant a POOR DOUG comment!
And yes, I do mow lawn – here and at Gerald’s parents’ place every week. It would never get done otherwise. Is a SAINT Mary comment in order?????
Okay, Doug … this latest post of yours really does call for a POOR DOUG comment!
And yes, I do mow the lawns – here and at my in-law’s place – every week. 4.5+ hours/wk. It would never get done otherwise!
And you will note we have a new e-mail address … I was posting and my posts weren’t showing up, then realized I had to change the e-mail. And yes, Jen, I figured that out all myself. You and Mike will be sooooooo proud of your dear old mom!
Come on Mary! You can’t leave me to comment!
She tried to comment but had some sort of issue and it didn’t go through.
Don’t worry, Kristin… we’re here to pick on you at every opportunity.
I’m trying….I’m trying!!! And getting more frustrated by the minute.
You know what my comment will be, don’t ya?
POOR DOUG…of course!!!!
MARY WAS LEFT SPEECHLESS?? Impossible!!! She must have had a virus or something
Not speechless, John… it was a technical issue.
Just so everyone knows … I just “Approved” Mary’s comments so they finally appeared in there date order of her having written them. I’ve been away and not keeping on top of things (if ever?) … So Mary is no longer “Speechless” … John – I’m sure this is comforting to know.
Not speechless, but I sure do repeat myself, don’t I?! Guess all those posts really do prove I tried, and tried …..
Kristin is sooo understanding. If only John was so nice!
And thanks, Rhett, for whatever you did to get me going again. (you too, Jen and Mike)
