A few weeks back I was visiting my friend Sharon and before I left she innocently asked, “Is there anything I can do to help for your ordination service?” Well I jumped at that opportunity! Sharon is artistic and creative and an all-round amazing woman. I said, “My dream is to have an abundance of flowers to adorn the sanctuary. Would you do the floral arrangements?” Being the wonderful woman she is … she said “Yes!” Ahead of time we went to Costco to look at what bulk flowers they had and the cost. I had a very specific budget for flowers.
Yesterday we were supposed to go out and purchase the flowers. Last week Sharon phoned and said, “Why don’t I go by myself, you’re busy. That way I can run around to Costco and Safeway and wherever and find the cheapest bulk flowers.” What a friend!
So yesterday Sharon bought the flowers and made up eleven boquets of varying sizes. Plus she incorporated a number of candle holders into the arrangements. Click here if you would like to see the complete set of photos for decorating the sanctuary.
The floral arrangements are not intended to function only as being pretty, but they are an aid to the worshipping community to reflect on God’s glory. What a joyous atmosphere flowers can inspire as we raise our voices in praise of our Lord!
Beautiful! I wish I could be there!
