Mary and Gerald arrived safely with all their luggage intact. We went directly to Doug’s work and he gave them the royal tour through all the research labs. Then the four of us went for a quick lunch at the coffee shop nearby. I drove Mary & Gerald throughout the ‘Wascana Centre Authority’ which houses the Legislative Building. Then we picked up their rental car. We got home and then took the dogs for a walk. The sun has even managed to poke out a little bit.

We assume that the Golems will represent the Sullivan Williamsford Lutheran Parish with class and dignity. After all, Gerald is a council chairperson and Mary is your above average news reporter.
You will be pleased to know we are behaving well, John. We have been warmly welcomed …. and just so know, Kristin is in fine form! Those who remember her wit, charm, laugh, goofiness, constant chatter and well, you know what I mean … will know that we have already had a blast with her, and Doug! In fact, she squeezed sooooo hard when we hugged at the airport I told her I was afraid I was going to leak (you know, too much coffee, sitting on a plane for hours, etc…)
Anyways, we had a bit of mix-up re our carry-on bag …. who would have thought a gift of maple syrup from Andy Yoder wouldn’t meet the regulations!!! Anyways, we also had the chasuble in the same bag … and to make a long story short ….no, the maple syrup did not leak!!! … we had to go through the line-up twice and get it checked separately as baggage. We were sooooo worried that it would not make it to Regina with us, or with the rest of our luggage … and well, how would we ever explain THAT to Kristin and to the parish?? Anyways, when we first met Kristin she of course, asked about the chasuble and well, Gerald and I had her going for a moment – or two – when we both argued back and forth about which one was supposed to put it into the luggage, convincing Kristin that neither one of us had!! We had her for a moment … but when Gerald and I started to chuckle, I guess we gave it away and she soon caught on.
Anyways,we’re having a great time …. despite the fact Mary had to forego her fashion consciousness in order to tour Doug’s work… wearing Gerald’s shoes (the only closed toed shoes there were — Mary brought sandals!!)
Like I said, lots of fodder for future “Mary’s Corners” on this trip!!
Off to see Uncle Ken and Aunt Anne in Neudorf tomorrow.
I’m glad you’re having fun, Mom and Dad. But please don’t let Kristin kidnap you, ok?

Kristin, this is for you… “Poor Kristin!!!” Will I get a “Poor Jennifer” for all the teasing they do to me???
One more thing… Mom, have you convinced Doug to get your lightbulb pants yet?
Well I can hardly wait to get in on the fun! Don’t get all tired and worn out before I get there OK?
Okay…Fran…will take it easy – until you get here!!! Actually I slept in this morning, thinking I could use the east-west time difference as an excuse.
By the way, don’t eat too much before you get here … you gotta have one of Doug’s muffins. YUMMY!!!!!
By the way, Jen, lightbulb pants are not what I had on my mind for a souvenir item!!
Why not? I hear they’re comfy.
I’m glad you’re having fun.
Be good! (It’s a tough job raising your parents!)
