Recovery

A few comments ago, Mary asked if I had recovered yet from the ordination service. Yes and No.

The ordination service was an amazing, beautiful, and sacred event. God blessed it all the more fully … as such would be God’s plans … by my being able to share the joy with so many people. Having Mary & Gerald out here felt like old times … as though no time at all had passed since we last saw each other. I was especially thrilled with our Friday socializing when Fran and Mary & Gerald had the chance to meet my Regina friends. Of course it was a chance for my Regina friends to get to know each other better … rather than through my stories.

I certainly was tired for a few days into the next week. This past week has been more tiring as I was getting all the utilities set up in Swift Current. My brain hurt more from trying to decide which of three mover quotes was the most responsible … each have different ways of calculating their costs. I have a moving date set for Thursday, August 27th. They will load and unload on the same day.

I started packing on Monday and I got tuckered out pretty quickly. But I’ve got quite a bit done. I want it all completed by the time we leave on camping holidays (Aug 9th – 23rd.) Sorting through the storage room will take some muscle, but it should only be a day’s worth of work as everything is in rubbermaid containers.

I also went up to see my Mom on Thursday. Her memory has deteriorated in the past month. Several times she wasn’t sure who I was. The good part is that she seems to have forgotten some things that were agitating her most of her waking hours. We actually had a pretty good visit as I told her stories of her past.

Today, I got a significant portion of my ordination scrapbook completed. So far I have about 35 sheets (that means 70 pages) filled with material from the service. I still have to get photos made up. Probably 40% of the sheets are filled with the wonderful cards that I received.

This coming week I already have two funerals to attend. God’s promise to be with us always never fails to be comforting.

It really was a good visit! Thanks again …. muchly . . . for everything.
Here’s hoping all goes well with your move. You know that if we lived closer we’d be packing that stuff in our pick-up truck and helping you to move it!

We welcomed our parish’s new pastor with a Welcome BBQ “back at the river” yesterday. It poured rain earlier in the day but by mid-afternoon the sun started to shine and it was beautiful! Yeah God!

By the way, I’m pooped today … but no time for rest. Deadline day again – and with a planned power interruption here tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, it means ALL of my writing has to be done today. It’s going to be a LONG day and I’m tired before it begins.

So let me guess, Mom… you’re motivating yourself by posting here!

(I start work in the same way…. genetics is a scary wonderful thing.)

Times of transition are tough…. praying for grace and peace for you all through the highs and lows of the next few weeks.

  5. Mary Golem says:

My daughter is on to me!

  6. Kristin says:

    Your daughter is amazing!

  7. Mary Golem says:

How come no one ever sticks up for me or feels sorry for me?

  8. Kristin says:

Mary … you are sounding suspiciously like me … possibly my role modelling isn’t always so helpful??

  9. Mary Golem says:

Now that IS a scary thought!! Poor me (because I just know no one else will say it!)

  10. Fran says:

Well I would say “Poor Mary” but I am more inclined to say “Poor Kristin” because I know what a chore it is to move…and I am close enough to help, so remember to call on me, Kristin. You know I would love to come and help you get settled in (any excuse to get together)!

I too would say a huge THANK YOU again for the privilege to be a part of your ordination weekend. It was a truly blessed event and even I can stop sharing stories about the whole event! God is good indeed!
